Coconut Oil Skin Saviour

I’ve been hearing about the benefits of coconut oil for a while now, but in true Eclectic Feel fashion, hearing about how good things are frequently stirs up a natural resistance to trying them. Aah, teenage rebellion, alive and kicking and still happy to cut my nose off to spite my face.

I’ve suffered from mild psoriaisis on and off for most of my life, but until recently it’s been pretty much under control. A hideous bout of work-related stress, an eyeball-dessicating office environment as hot and dry as a well-burnt pop tart, and the vitamin D drought that is the British winter have recently combined in a bad flare up. There is no cure for psoriaisis, and the only really effective treatment involves applying a topical cream which feels akin to sulphuric acid and renders me to tears and the kind of contorted postures last seen in Pompeii. New Apparel At Peachy Queen Boutique

Hi guys, I just wanted to share the latest drop from The Peachy Queen Boutique, which has given me some inspo for tapping into some SS 2015 trends. I especially love the vibrant orange, and also the polka dot dress – according to this month’s Elle Magazine, polka dots are currently having a “mini-trend”. I’ve been following The Peachy Queen for a while now and she frequently brightens up my day with some fresh inspiration. Enjoy!

Colour me Friday: The Extraordinary World of John Holcroft

John Holcroft is an English illustrator who grew up in the Northern counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire, where he spent most of his childhood “drawing, painting and making stuff from what ever I could find”. John’s illustrations offer a peek into the world of an extraordinarily creative mind with the ability to sum up modern society’s woes within a single colourful illustration. Here are my current favourites – check out more at www.johnholcroft.com. Continue reading Colour me Friday: The Extraordinary World of John Holcroft

The Lust for Lush: Bickering about Bath Bombs

A lush post on Lush for you by Geez Kyra Louise – it’s as cute and fizzing with enthusiasm as a bath bomb!

Whether it be through Instagram, beauty blogs or just in your circle of friends- LUSH is taking over! Here’s your inside source to the good, the bad and the ugly (not really that dramatic it’s just soap) of your favorite, infamous Lush products!

My personal Lush collection My personal Lush collection

Before Bomb Thoughts: My opinions regarding the handmade cosmetics shop had wavered back and forth. In the past I had always felt that the strong scents were a little overbearing and not worth the hype. I assumed that the quality of the products was only raved about so much because they looked cute in Instagram photos (which is true-admittedly I posted my own). My thoughts subsequent to experiencing the infamous bath bomb changed immensely however, as I saw my original thoughts were far from the truth!

Copper Spray Paint Superhero!

zigzgag

A couple of months ago I did a Colour me Friday post on Copper Interior Design – and since then, I’ve become a little obsessed with it. But I’m currently buying a house, and don’t have any spare cash – What’s a girl to do? So I decided to combine thriftiness and a good old pre-move clearout to see if I could become a copper spray paint superhero…

Vintage Headboard Upcycle

It has bugged me for ages that our double divan bed doesn’t have a headboard (I know, first world problems, right?). I had never really seen one that I loved, was of good quality and could afford, and I really love one-off pieces, so I decided to see if I could upcycle one as an experiment…

Step 1 – Find a headboard! If, like me, you’re fairly new to upcycling, you don’t want to spend  much (or any) money on your headboard. Unless you plan on wrestling one away from your sleeping granny, try Freecycle or Freegle. Failing that, Ebay or your local charity/thrift furniture stores. I got mine on the Newcastle Freecycle website. As a special lucky bonus, the couple who were giving it away had a pick-up truck, some free time and a lot of kindness, and delivered it to my house for free. It’s a 1950’s wood and velvetine French regency style headboard in peach and white, which, on first appearance, Chandler from Friends would probably describe as “a Reject from the Liberace House of Crap”. However, closer inspection reveals that it’s in great condition with high quality materials and workmanship. Perfect for my upcycling experiment. Continue reading Vintage Headboard Upcycle

Colour me Friday – Candy Pink Fashion Illustration

100 yrs of fashion ill

I spent time yesterday reading the beautiful “100 years of Fashion Illustration” by Cally Blackman. Fashion illustration combines two of my favourite worlds – fashion and art – and is often overlooked in today’s world of digital photography. Yet I think it still has an important place – it allows our imagination to flow freely and celebrates the beauty and creativity of fashion design. There are so many amazing fashion illustrators out there – a good starting place to check out their work is at fashionillustrationgallery and iloveillustration. Here a a few of my favourites, in candy pink: Continue reading Colour me Friday – Candy Pink Fashion Illustration
